Joséphine Bacon
Innu poet
Presentation
Joséphine Bacon is an Innu poet from Pessamit, born in 1947. A director and lyricist, she is considered a prominent author in Quebec. She worked as a translator-interpreter with elders, those who hold traditional knowledge, and, with wisdom, she learned to listen to their words. Joséphine Bacon often describes herself not as a poet but as someone whose nomadic and generous heart speaks a language filled with poetry, resonating with the echoes of the ancients who have marked her life. She has been collaborating with Oktoecho since 2015.
