Born in Marrakech, Mohamed Raki is a renowned Moroccan percussionist. His passion for music emerged in childhood, leading him to pursue musical studies at the Conservatory. Settling in Quebec in 1995, he contributed to artistic projects like the Cirque du Soleil's "Dralion" album and various Quebec TV shows. A fixture in Quebec festivals and Montreal's cultural venues, he blends genres through collaborations, notably with Yves Lambert, founder of La Bottine Souriante. A masterful darbouka player, Mohamed explores diverse musical influences, lending his exceptional talent to ensembles encompassing klezmer, Arabic, Greek, Turkish, African, Algerian, and Romani genres in Montreal. He has been collaborating with Oktoecho since 2013.
